....the river Blackwater runs along the centre of the Blackwater Valley, which is maintained as a largely tree-planted open space, with some bog, marsh and water-meadows. It runs for approximately 22.5 miles (36 km) from the source at Rowhill Nature Reserve near Aldershot in the south, northwards to Swallowfield where the river is joined by the “Whitewater” and then joins the River Loddon. The Loddon flows into the Thames on the southern borders of Wargrave.

Bio

Steffan Stringer is a Tai Chi practitioner and instructor based close to the Blackwater Valley, in Surrey, UK.

He trained in Shukokai karate whilst at University and following that spent 10 years learning Taekwondo at clubs in Cardiff, Leeds and High Wycombe. He’ll be the first to admit that whilst he enjoyed kickboxing, he was never very good, and often turned up to work the next day bruised, battered and with black eyes!

Alongside a 35-year career supporting evidence-based medical research, his focus is now on traditional Chinese martial arts. For the last five years he has been training with Wutan UK in Yang style Tai Chi and Kung Fu. His teachers are Anita Ho and Dr Ben Watson from Wutan Surrey.
